CASE 8: A Patient’s Healing Journey from Ulcerative Colitis

A young male age 26 years approached us with his gut and anxiety issues. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, IBS, had low libido, had constant bloating & frequent abdominal pain.

He was specifically tested for hormones, urine spot comprehensive and stool comprehensive test, along with other important blood investigations. Also heavy metal scan & mineral test was done.

Test results revealed high level of overall intoxication (pic1)– boron, aluminum, arsenic, barium, cadmium, bismuth, and lead were higher than normal. And phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, iodine, cobalt, silicon, chromium and molybdenum were extremely low which indicate poor absorption of nutrients from the damaged gut.

Also it was suspected, that the elimination of heavy metals was blocked possibly due to the lack of sulphur conjugation. Other parameters like enzymatic state, intestinal assimilation were unsatisfactory.

Urine reports showed presence of cast cell, calcium oxalate crystals & yeast.

 Also L-arabinitol was detected in urine. Arabinitol is a specific marker for fungal overgrowth and signals invasive candidiasis.

Stool comprehensive results showed RBC’s and yeast positive. Also occult blood was detected which indicate damaged intestinal lining. 

Candida IgG, IgA and IgG all the three antibodies were detected. Imbalanced hormones – his testosterone was extremely low 218ng/dL(normal is 600-1100). DHEA was low @113.0 (normal for male is 400-600). Anti-thyroid antibodies were detected with thyroglobulin antibody@ 12.35 (normal is <4.11), thyroid peroxidase antibodies @26.14 U/mL (normal is<5.61). 

His treatment included nutraceuticals to balance out the minerals to arrest candida overgrowth that included dietary guidelines and specific supplements, gut healing therapies were given, also supplements to boost testosterone levels were advised.

After 3 months of the treatment patient reported of better digestive health, also was relieved from constant bloating and frequent stomach aches. He was able to ingest food normally without any gas or bloating. Anxiety was down by 60-70%, and his sex drive improved.

And on re-testing for his mineral test and heavy metal scan, the results were remarkably good.

His overall intoxication load decreased with significantly improved mineral absorption and heavy metal load reduction. His oxidation stress came down. Improved enzymatic state and intestinal assimilation.

Patient travelled overseas after 3 months of treatment, however continued the treatment and dietary protocol. At 9 months he reported feeling 80-90% better in all symptoms which he had reported at the beginning of the treatment.
