Case Study 15 : PATIENT’S HEALING JOURNEY FROM UNDIAGNOSED AILMENT LEADING TO SYMPTOMS OF IBS, CHRONIC FATIGUE & DIABETES

A 53 year old man approached us with complaints of several gut issues – he had constant bloating, acidity, gas and pain in abdomen after eating. He was also diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and gynecomastia and was on medicine for hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes with insulin injections and high triglycerides.

He was specifically tested for comprehensive stool examination, SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), intolerances to food, hormone, lyme, EBV, and Candida. Heavy metal toxicity and trace minerals were also assessed.

His entire hormone panel was deranged. His HbA1c was @8.7%(Pic1)(normal is <5.5), insulin fasting was extremely high @83.1(Pic2) (normal is 2.0-25.0 microIU/mL), homocysteine was high 17.74 (normal is 3.7-13.9 micromol/L).

Lyme IgG was positive as well as both the antibodies of Candida were found positive.

Mineral test report revealed deficiency of critical minerals like magnesium, silicon, copper, and zinc. (Pic4). Heavy Metal report showed overall intoxication in the system with toxicity of Aluminium, cadmium and mercury.

Stool comprehensive analysis revealed positive for Blastocystis spp. and Endolimax nana.

Apart from this his Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs) were also deranged. SCFAs play an important role in the health of the GI as well as protection against intestinal dysbiosis, its abnormal level may be an indicator of poor gut biome. Also results show acidic intestinal pH 4.7 (normal is 5.8 – 7.0), low pH makes the intestinal environment unsuitable for the growth of good bacteria.

SIBO report was high positive for hydrogen and methane breath analysis.

On the basis of his results he was given a set protocol of 3 months. It included nutraceuticals, gut healing therapies, bio film bursting enemas, detox therapies to eliminate heavy toxic metal load. Candida treatment protocol was also started simultaneously. Subcutaneous peptide therapy was carried out for 6 weeks. He was also put on intravenous detox therapies.

On follow up after 3 months patient’s re-testing showed significant improvements. His overall hormones got balanced. HbA1c dropped to 6.2% from 8.7%.(

Candida antibodies got reduced.

He also reported of no constipation, no acidity, and adequate stool formation. He is now able to take food without fear of getting bloated and getting abdominal pain. His energy levels got better, very good improvement in focus and concentration.

He is put on next phase of treatment for helping complete healing over the next few months. Current treatment target is on improving fatigue, strengthening gut, treating chronic lyme.
